1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and phone number (for verification via OTP).
We do not collect any information beyond what is necessary for the platform to function. We do not use tracking pixels, third-party analytics, or advertising scripts.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Authentication — Your email and phone number are used to verify your identity and prevent spam.
- Content Display — Your username or public alias appears alongside your posts and comments.
- Notifications — We send in-app notifications for replies, reactions, and friend requests. No marketing emails.
- Progress Tracking — Your syllabus progress, quiz streaks, and test scores are stored to power your dashboard.
3. Anonymous Participation
You can participate using a public alias instead of your real name. Your alias is system-generated and cannot be linked to your identity by other users. Only you can choose to reveal your real name.
4. Data We Never Sell
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data is used exclusively to operate UPSC Forum.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Sessions are protected with CSRF tokens and HTTP-only cookies.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies only — session cookies for authentication and CSRF protection. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Your Rights
- Access — You can view all your data in your profile and settings pages.
- Deletion — You can request complete account deletion by contacting support@upscforum.com.
- Privacy Controls — You can control who can message you, send friend requests, and tag you in the Settings page.
