How much is the salary of an IAS officer when he joins the job?
The initial salary of IAS or any other service at it’s starting it 8000-275-13,500, that is the Junior Time scale.
Rs.275/- is an incremeint per year. It is the annual increase in pay- is drawn as a matter of course from the 1st of the month in which it falls due.
Like in the first year you get the basic pay of 8000/. The next year when your incremeint is due you get 8275/- for the next year.
Basic pay is what you get and only increase by way of increment and promotion and is differentiated from DA (Dearness Allowance) to compensate the price increase and is sanctioned twice a year.
Pay of all Group A services including IAS starts with a junior time scale of Rs. 8000 - 275 - 13500 That means Your basic pay is Rs 8000 and every year you will get a hike of Rs 275 till the time you hit ceiling of Rs. 13500. Apart from that you will get a Dearnace Pay of 50% of basic. Plus 300 City Compensatory allownace and HRA depending on the City of stay.
